Shirley
had long recognized intriguing incorporation of humor and a strong spiritual presence in
stories that recounted highly traumatic life experiences, as retold in biographies and
personal accounts. But only once she found the book, "Laughter in Hell: The Use of
Humor During the Holocaust," (Lippman, 1993) did she have the unquestionable document
she needed to convince her that her intuition was correct.
As
with all of the sister pages in the Humor section, this page will continue to be
strengthened with solid research that supports each area. Please let Shirley know which areas are of the
greatest interest to you.
As
a serious, practitioner-based student of humor, Shirley is always interested in expanding
her knowledge. If you have current sources for particular studies relevant to any of the
above areas, please let her know so she
can include them in her exploration.
